Ce site web a été créé le 26 octobre 2024 par un fan de longue date, fidèle et inconditionnel de Rory Gallagher. Il s’agit donc du tout premier site web bilingue français/anglais, un hommage dédié à la vie trop courte de notre cher Rory.
TO YOUR ATTENTION ENGLISH LANGUAGE VISITORS: this web site was created on October 26th, 2024 by an old, faithful and diehard fan of Rory Gallagher. So it is the first ever French, bilingual English/French, web site and a tribute dedicated to the too short life of our dear Rory.

J'ai reçu ce matin « Gallagher's Guitars » et je considère comme un immense privilège de faire partie des nouveaux propriétaires de ce merveilleux ouvrage que tout fan inconditionnel de Rory aura (bientôt) dans sa bibliothèque.
Je sais déjà ce qui m'attend ces prochains jours : lire et faire la promotion de ce superbe ouvrage sur la page d'accueil du site.
Je tiens à toutes vous remercier tous car, pour une fan de Rory de la première heure, après avoir assisté à la vente de la collection de Rory Gallagher chez Bonhams à Londres le 17 octobre 2024, c'est un immense honneur d'avoir ce livre si spécial entre mes mains !
Même un vieux fan (depuis 50 ans cette année) peut encore en apprendre sur Rory grace à ce livre !
Fort intelligemment, ce livre passionnant (même pour les non-guitaristes) nous présente une quarantaine de guitares tout en s'appuyant sur une chronologie de la vie et de la carrière de Rory. L'auteur (Juliane Bitoun) à une excellente connaissance de la vie de notre irlandais préféré et, aidé par un Donal Gallagher toujours présent pour les grandes occasions, nous brosse un tableau d'un collectionneur passionné par la guitare au point d'en posséder des dizaines. On notera, autre info qui m'était inédite et constitue donc une énorme surprise, qu'une bonne trentaine d'autres guitares n'ont pas été présentées à la vente de chez Bonhams, Londres en octobre 2024. Peut-être l'objet d'une seconde vente ''Rory's Gallagher Collection II'' future ?...

I received this morning ‘’Gallagher’s Guitars’’ and consider that it is a huge privilege to be one of the new proprietaries of this marvelous book any Rory’s fan should have (soon) in his library.
I already know what awaits me in the coming days: reading and promoting this superb work on the homepage of this web site;
I want to thank you all because for an old Rory’s fan, after being present a certain October 17th, 2024 at Bonhams London for the sale of ''Rory Gallagher’s collection'', it means a lot to have this special book in my hands!!!
Even a longtime fan (50 years this year!) can still learn something new about Rory thanks to this book!
This fascinating book (even for non-guitarists) cleverly presents around forty guitars while following a chronology of Rory's life and career. The author (Juliane Bitoun) has an excellent knowledge of the life of our favorite Irishman and, with the help of Donal Gallagher, always there for the big occasions, paints a portrait of a collector so passionate about guitars that he owns dozens of them. Another piece of information, which was new to me and therefore a huge surprise, is that around thirty other guitars were not included in the Bonhams sale in London in October 2024! Perhaps they will be featured in a future sale of ''Rory's Gallagher Collection II''?

I would like very much to publish a photo-book called ''Tribute to Rory Gallagher''. It is actually a 60 pages photobook from 100 pictures I took between 1978 and 1982 during 5 Rory's French venues but... I need to be in contact with you Dónal to receive your approval.

Elles ont été Photographiées chez Bonhams avant la vente d'octobre 2024 par Eleanor James, célèbre photographe anglaise et commentées par Julien Bitoun, historien français de la guitare.
Ce livre traitera dans le détail, par l'image et par le textes de 40 de ses plus célèbres guitares.

A new book dedicated to Rory Gallagher, and more specifically to his guitars, is set to be released on March 17, 2026! Photographed at Bonhams before the October 2024 sale by Eleanor James, the renowned British photographer, and commented on by Julien Bitoun, French guitars historian.
This book will explore in detail, through images and text, 40 of his most famous guitars.

Pour la première fois de son histoire, le International Tribute festival de Ballyshanon, Irlande accueillera le samedi 30 mais une personnalité de tout premier plan : rien de moins que M. Billy Gibbons accompagné par son BFG Band.
En effet depuis 2015, en parallèle de sa carrière avec le célébrisime ZZ Top, Billy mène aussi une carrière solo avec ce groupe composé actuellement de Mike Flanigin aux claviers et Chris Layton à la batterie.

Rory played a lot of his world famous Fender Stratocaster '61 but, sometimes, he use some other from his unbelievable collection of guitars. This is the case on this picture that may open the creation of a special page dedicated to... ''others guitars''!
He plays on a 1957 Supro. This Supro is yet another homage to the American blues guitarists who first captured Rory’s imagination. According to the book ''Palmtrees, Señoritas... and Rocket Ships!'', Mark Makin’s comprehensive reference book on Nationals, Supros and related guitar brands, Rory’s example appears to be the second iteration of the Dual-Tone, which first appeared in 1954. This updated version, which went on.

Rory a beaucoup joué de sa mondialement célèbre Fender Stratocaster '61 mais, parfois, il utilisait aussi d'autres guitares de son incroyable collection de guitares. C'est le cas sur cette photo qui pourrait ouvrir la création d'une page spéciale dédiée aux... ''autres guitares''.
Il joue sur une Supro de 1957. Cette Supro est un autre hommage aux guitaristes de blues américains qui ont captivé l'imagination de Rory. Selon le livre ''Palmtrees, Señoritas... and Rocket Ships!'', l'ouvrage de référence de Mark Makin sur les Nationals, les Supros et les marques de guitares associées, l'exemplaire de Rory semble être la deuxième itération de la Dual-Tone, apparue pour la première fois en 1954. Cette version mise à jour, qui a continué.

BRIAN MAY PAYED TRIBUTE TO RORY
Quand Sir Brian May, charismatique guitariste du groupe QUEEN évoque Rory, on peut ressentir en quelques secondes seulement toute l'affection qu'il lui portait. Il reconnaît aussi bien volontiers à quel point il a influencé son jeu de guitare.
Probablement le plus bel hommage qu'un artiste pouvait faire à Rory que cette interview !
When Sir Brian May, the charismatic guitarist of the band QUEEN, talks about Rory, you can feel the affection he felt for him in just a few seconds. He also readily acknowledges how much it influenced his guitar playing.
This interview is probably the most beautiful tribute an artist could have paid to Rory!

Il y a exactement 51 ans (!!!) sortait ce qui est depuis considéré comme l'un des meilleurs albums live des années 70 (voire le meilleur, tout court).
Sans aucun doute, l'un des meilleurs aperçus possibles de ce qu'était Rory sur scène : sans chichis, juste un virtuose et une bête de scène comme je n'en avais jamais vu (sauf, bien sûr, depuis Bruce Springsteen et Freddie Mercury de Queen).
Une façon de s'attirer la sympathie en quelques secondes, puis, pour le reste du concert, de rester bouche bée d'admiration devant ce qu'il pouvait nous offrir pendant deux bonnes heures (en général).

Exactly 51 years ago (!!!) was released what has since been considered one of the best live albums of the 70s (or even the best live albums, period).
Without a doubt, one of the best glimpses possible of what Rory was like on stage: no fuss, just a virtuoso and a stage beast like I'd never seen before (except, of course, since Bruce Springsteen and Freddie Mercury of Queen).
A way to attract sympathy in just a few seconds, then, for the rest of the concert, with your mouth wide open in admiration at what he could offer us for a good two hours (usually).

PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST NON OFFICIAL RORY's LIVE
While browsing the internet, I sometimes discover gems! Such is the case with this excellent "Rory Gallagher - Bottom Line 1978." This period is all the more interesting (for me) since it was during this time that I discovered Rory on stage (at the Pantin Hippodrome - October 23, 1978).

A great 90's concert!
Another great video from one of Rory's best concerts of the 90s. In 1994, Stuttgart, Germany, August 21st. It's hard to believe that less than a year later, Rory was dead and gone. Disappeared? No, in the mind, spirit and soul of his long-time fan, he will be there forever..

He played his hits with a certain rage, violence and brutality... To the point that at the start of the concert, he injured his right hand by hitting the microphone. You will also have a duel harmonica with Mark before a great version of ''Ghost Blues''

I created on October 26th, 2024: www.RoryGallagher.fr first ever French, bilingual English/French, web site who is a tribute to Rory full of some of my 400 never ever published photographs I took between October 1978 and March 1982. I will publish only the best ones. At this time I played 'hide and seek' with security guys because, of course, taking photographs was strictly forbidden (but I did not care, took the risk en do not regret it at all, forty years later I know that it worth!).

As a very longtime* and faithful fan of Rory, I wonder why I waited so long to decide I could have the crazy and ambitious project to try to create a new Rory Gallagher's Web Site?
I was frustrated to see that www.rorygallagher.fr domain name stayed available, year after year, until by this end of 2024, when I finally decided, this very day, to buy it!
I was conscious what It will mean and also aware of the mountain I prepared myself to climb, but work never fear me.
So what does drive me to climb this mountain?
First reason: Bonhams auction, where I went on October 16th and 17th, relight the fire!...
Then I learned that only 28% of French people talks and/or understand English language... A good reason to create the first ever French (but bilingual English/French) web site dedicated to Rory Gallagher.
Is it not a little pretentious to pretend to propose something new? Hope this web site will bring some different point of view ('from a fan to the fans') from the great official Rory Gallagher web site: www.RoryGallagher.com and...
May be, another good reason, was to get a solution to enter in contact with Dónal. you can also read the 'open letter' I wrote him.
You will discover that I am crazy enough to propose him his help to co-write a Rory Gallagher’s biography, I get in my heart and soul since so many years?
Why should I make him such a proposal? Once again, the answer is quite clear: very few books about Rory Gallagher were published and most of them, except the brand new 'Rory Gallagher - The Later years', satisfied me!
As the American singer-songwriter Gretchen Peters sing in her great song ‘Wichita’: « if you want something done, you do it yourself »
The best way would be to do it with a close collaboration from Dónal. I cannot imagine, even for a minute, to do it without his essential help.

1985 a friend played me my first Rory's song: 'A Million Miles Away' and this song is still my favorite. 'I fall apart', 'Just a smile' and 'For the last time' are my 3 others favorite songs. 'Rory Gallagher', his 1st solo album, is my favorite album, 'Calling Card' and 'Live 74' are the two other ones. I sadly never got to go and see Rory in concert...
